Welcome to Maldon
1 min read

Imagine arriving in a new town in the middle of a pandemic, no local support, no local knowledge - this is the reality for some of Maldon’s newest residents.

Maldon prides itself on being friendly and welcoming to newcomers but it is a lot more challenging when we aren’t able to leave our homes, community groups have stopped meeting and the streets are nearly empty!

One thing that people can offer their new neighbours are Welcome Kits.

Welcome Kits are chock full of useful information for new residents and are available from the Maldon Neighbourhood Centre and the Maldon & District Community Bank.

It is a way of helping people new to our lovely township find out about what’s available locally, what community groups are here and useful information such as tip opening times or how to prepare for a bushfire emergency.

The Visitor Information Centre (VIC) and the Maldon Neighbourhood Centre (MNC) began this initiative in 2014.

VIC volunteers compile local resources into a handy folder which can be collected from the VIC or MNC at no cost. As the VIC is currently closed due to covid risk, the Maldon & District Community Bank has kindly offered to be an alternative distribution point.

If you meet someone new to town or a neighbour moves in next door, don’t forget to let them know about the Welcome Kits, it will help make them feel welcome and part of our community.
